The Ministry of Information and Communication (MOIC) beat Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) 82-43 in a one-sided basketball match at the ongoing Kenya Communications Sports Organisations (Kecoso) games.

The match was played at Menengai High School grounds yesterday.

Joshua Vuva and M Oketch scored 35 points each for the winners while KCAA replied through Noah Dima and Vincent Ayim who scored 20 points each. Both teams tied 35-35 at the break.

In the second match played at the same venue, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) increased their chances of winning the title after beating Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) 87-48 in an entertaining match.

The ports men who led 32-20 at the break had Musa Odari and Mike Opel scoring 22 and 15 points while Erick Walucho and Vito Kote replied for the losers with 18 and 16 points.

In pool, KCAA stamped their authority when they conquered top teams in the championships held at Summit Resort yesterday.

KCAA hammered KAA 14-11 in their first match, defeated KPA 16-9 before seeing off Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) 14-11.

As a result, KCAA now lead the seven-team table standings with 44 points after three matches followed by Postal Corporation of Kenya with 57 points.

In table tennis, KPA beat MOIC 5-0, PCK lost to KAA 1-4, KCAA walloped CCK 5-0, KAA defeated KCAA 5-0, KPA hit CCK 5-0, PCK defeated MOIC 4-1 and also hammered KCAA 4-1.

In snooker, KPA hit PCK 3-0 and will now meet KAA in the final.

Meanwhile Kecoso member bodies have been urged to recruit young players ahead of next year’s games.

Erick Rono, the Kecoso snooker Coordinator said the move would ensure that those players who are retiring after these games are replaced.

Rono said games’ future is bleak if Kecoso members do not recruit more players in the next two years.

He said despite the absence of seasoned giants like Telkom Kenya, Kenya Railways and Kenya Airways, the games are still competitive with the emergence of new members.

The new members include Communication Commission of Kenya, Nairobi Aviation College and MOIC.

Only Kenya Airways, Kenya Railways, KPA, MOIC and Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation used to participate in the games.
