Kabras Sugar and KCB will be hoping to come out from Eldoret with one hand on the National Sevens Circuit title ahead of Tisap Sevens' penultimate round that kicks off on Saturday.

With Kabras Sugar leading arch rivals KCB by just two points in the standings, it promises to be a thrilling weekend of sevens rugby as the quest to be crowned Kenyan club sevens champions in 2023 goes a notch higher.

KCB rugby sevens coach Andrew Amonde has urged his team to step up in Eldoret.

The bankers will have to cope with the absence of Samuel Asati, Elvis Olukusi, Festus Shiasi, Austin Sikutwa and Vincent Onyala who have been called to Shujaa for the Africa Sevens.

Forward Trevor Odawa has been handed his first outing with the team since the start of the National Sevens Circuit and will lead KCB's attack alongside Elphas Adunga, Levy Amunga, Eugene Omondi, and Bob Muhati.

"We are two points behind circuit leaders Kabras, so this outing poses a good challenge for us to cut the deficit. With five of our players currently out on national duty, we are banking on our squad depth to compete against our opponents this weekend. Our aim is to sit at the summit ahead of the last leg of the series in Nairobi," said Amonde.

Other notable names who will be in the travelling squad include Brian Wahinya, Mike Wanjala, Elvis Namusasi, and Isaac Njoroge.

Winger Edmund Anya is still out with an injury he sustained at the Prinsloo 7s in Nakuru.

Kabras who are in Group C alongside Kenya Harlequin, Kisumu and Daystar Falcons will be seeking to reach their fourth final in the circuit.

"We came short when we bowed out at Christie Sevens semis but there is still room for improvement. We just have to play better than we have played so far this season," said Felix Ayange, Kabras Sevens coach.
