Kenya Sevens will on Thursday (today) renew their rivalry with Uganda in the final of the Emirates Dubai Sevens Invitational tournament to be played at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai.

Kenya Sevens finished third at the first leg of the Dubai event after defeating Japan 26-14 in the third-place playoffs with an eye set on reclaiming the top spot after a dismal performance in the group stages last week.

Kenya will face neighbours Uganda at 10:12am (East African Time) in the East African Derby on Thursday morning.

Shujaa will then face Canada in their second group match at 2:14pm before winding up their final match against Spain at 4:48pm.

Speaking ahead of the matches, Shujaa head coach Innocent Simiyu said he is targeting better results this weekend.

Simiyu called for clinical execution and complete concentration among the players for the full 14 minutes despite working on full fitness of majority of the team players.

“We’re happy with how the boys played over the weekend finishing third out of eight teams. For us it’s just to look at how we can improve our execution and reduce errors to get better results,” said Simiyu.

“We’ve been focusing on the players getting back to one hundred per cent and we had our first training session to address some small areas in our game so as to get better results over the weekend,” he added.

If they finish in the top three, Kenya will play their knockout stage matches on Friday.

On the other hand, Kenya Lionesses will face Japan, USA, Brazil and Canada in their round-robin pool format.

Lionesses failed to win any of their six matches they played in a round-robin format against USA, Brazil, Japan, Canada and France. The dismal performance saw Kenya finish bottom in the tourney with a paltry six points.

Lionesses will open their account at 8:22am against Canada. They will then face France at 12:12pm before taking on Japan at 4:04pm.

On Friday, they will face off against Brazil and USA at 8:22 AM and 2:36 PM respectively.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Rugby Union announced that Kenyans can watch them play at Dubai live through a YouTube channel live link.

KRU, on its social media pages, said day one matches are set to be aired live on YouTube via link 1 while day two matches will also be live via link 2.
