National Sevens rugby team now faces England in Paris leg.

Kenya Sevens rugby team maintained the 11th-spot in the 2016/17 HSBC World Rugby Series standings.

Despite failing to defend their Singapore Sevens title in the eighth round of the series at the weekend, Kenya did not drop in the world rankings.

Just like in the Hong Kong leg, Shujaa bagged 10 points to take their tally to 57 points with two legs left. They finished eighth in the Singapore leg that was won by Canada.

Canada beat USA 26-19 to lift their first ever HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series title. Innocent 'Namcos' Simiyu's boys, who played in their second Main Cup quarterfinals this season after Cape Town in December, lost twice at the death in Sunday's knockout matches at the National Stadium.

Shujaa unluckily missed out on a Cup semifinal spot after a last-gasp 13-12 defeat to England, before conceding 24-21 at the death, again, in their fifth place semifinal clash against New Zealand.

Kenya will now be seeking revenge for their loss in Singapore against England when the two sides clash in the Pool C of next month's (May 13-14) Paris Sevens.

It will no doubt be a tall order for the Kenyans owing to their inferior form against England. Shujaa have not beaten the third-ranked European side in six years.

The pair has been drawn alongside hosts France and invitational side Spain, who were recent series qualifier winners in Hong Kong.

Fresh from claiming the Singapore Cup, top seeds Canada headline Pool A which has series leaders South Africa, Scotland and Japan.

Pool B has Singapore runner-up USA, New Zealand, Wales and Argentina. Australia top Pool D and will face Fiji, Samoa and Russia in Paris.

Meanwhile, KCB coach Curtis Olago is optimistic of reclaiming the Kenya Cup title when they face champions Kabras Sugar in the final at RFUEA grounds on Saturday.
