The Kenya National Sevens team turned round their performance in the second day of the England sevens to win the Bowl Trophy and scoop eight points in the circuit.

The side had a disastrous first day in the final leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series, losing heavily to England and Scotland in the pool stages before struggling to get past Brazil.

The second day went much better with the side going undefeated against Japan in the Bowl quarterfinals, Samoa in the semi-finals and Argentina in the finals.

On-song Collins Injera was able to get past the 200 try milestone as they beat Japan 24-12, Samoa 38-7 and Argentina 26-12.

Injera's brother Humphrey Kayange praised Kenya's spirit as they won the Bowl.

"I think that we didn't start the tournament well yesterday (Saturday) and we let ourselves down but we picked ourselves up today (Sunday). It was great to see Collins get to 200 tries and we are all massively proud of the work that he has done and contributed to the team."

Meanwhile, two tries from Savenaca Rawaca and one from captain Osea Kolinisau were enough for Fiji to beat South Africa 19-7 in the Marriott London Sevens Cup quarter finals, enough to secure the 2014/15 HSBC Sevens World Series.

"I can't really put them into words at the moment," said coach Ben Ryan. "We were just focusing on the South Africa game. The boys were very overly emotional in the changing room and I had to control them a bit and remind them to start smiling and that this is supposed to be fun. We've won 29 out of our last 30 games so we are on a pretty hot streak and I've got a great team around me."

With their safe passage through to the semi-finals, Ryan's side lifted their second World Series title at Twickenham, and their first since 2006. Not since 2010 has a side other than New Zealand lifted the coveted trophy.

In the other rounds of the competition, the defending series champions New Zealand ended the season on a high with a 26-14 victory over South Africa in the Plate Finals. The Blitzboks still finish second having beaten Scotland 31-7 in the Plate semi finals with the season's top try scorer Seabelo Senatla adding two tries to his tally.

Sherwin Stowers, DJ Forbes, Dylan Collier and Rieko Ioane scored for Sir Gordon Tietjens' side who finished third in the overall standings.

Whereas in the lowest tier Japan came from 19-0 down to beat France 21-19 in the Shield final, ending their season as a core side on a high with their first piece of silverware of the season.

Yoshikazu Fujita, Lote Tuqiri and Lomano Lemeki all scored in the victory.
