Kenya Commercial Bank stormed into the semi finals of the Enterprise Cup with a 34-6 victory over Kenya Harlequin at the Ruaraka Grounds.

Speaking after the victory KCB head coach Curtis Olago dedicated the victory to former flanker Anthony Ochino who died earlier in the week at his home in Rongai.

“It was a good victory for us and we dedicate it to Ochino, and we thank Kenya Harlequin for being worthy opponents in the tie,” he told FeverPitch.

Despite the emphatic victory, Olago insists that the team was still one step off-pace and claims they can get better.

“I think the long break between the Kenya Cup and Enterprise took a toll on the team and we could see it with how the team performed,” he explained.

“We still got the victory and I have to give credit to all the 22 players involved today, but I still have the feeling that we have the chance to do better in the coming games,” he said.

According to Olago, they will be holding nothing back in the coming games and their top priority at this moment is to win the Enterprise Cup as they prepare for the semi-finals of the Kenya Cup in May.

“I am particularly happy with our defense today, given that we kept our lines well today and pushed up together, which gave them (Kenya Harlequin) little chance to exert themselves in the game,” he concluded.

The Bankers will be happy with the territorial play against Kenya Harlequin, forcing the former champions to play in their own half and capitalising on the mistakes to score five tries. Kenya Harlequin on the other hand will have to go back to the drawing board and re-strategise after a lacklustre performance.

Quins have been notorious for postponing all their matches that have their national team players absent, but having played against a big team and lost without their national players, has confirmed their fears that they lack depth and that they need to build as a matter of priority.

Meanwhile, a new champion will be crowned in the tournament after defending champions Mwamba RFC lost narrowly to Impala 18-16  in the other quarter final of the weekend. Impala will now face KCB in the semi-finals.

In the other games of the weekend Nakuru RFC beat Homeboyz RFC 35-10 at the Nakuru Athletics Club, while Nondies RFC upset Strathmore 23-18 at the Jamhuri Show ground.
