Kenya Airports Authority beat Nairobi Aviation College 3-1 in the penultimate football match at Afraha Stadium on Thursday to claim the third spot in the ongoing Kenya Communications Sports Organisations (Kecoso) Games in Nakuru.

KAA played like wounded lions to overcome a one-goal deficit in the hands of pre-tournament underdogs NAC in this pulsating encounter.

KAA led 2-1 at the break. The losers drew the first blood in the third minute through Edward Odhiambo.

Ali Mwanga equalised in the 35th minute from the spot kick after a NAC defender handled in the box.

Samuel Mureithi increased the tally a minute later for KAA to dictate proceedings against their opponents who later conceded easy goals.

Vitalis Menza closed the chapter with an 89th minute blockbuster for KAA to walk home to a respectable third position.

KAA have three points from three matches. They have won a match and lost two against PCK and KPA by three goals each. They have scored four goals against five. Debutants NAC are trailing with no point. They have lost all their matches, scoring two goals and conceding nine.

In their first match, KAA lost 3-1 to Postal Corporation of Kenya(PCK) before pushing Kenya Ports Authority to the limit, but lost by a solitary goal.

Defending champions PCK are tipped to lift the title against Kenya Ports Authority. Both teams are tied at the top position with six points, but the former have a better goals aggregate.

In basketball, KAA got a walk-over Ministry of Information and Communication (MOIC) 20-0 after the latter failed to show up at Menengai High School within the stipulated 15 minutes from the throw-off time.

Basketball coordinator Sammy Wanjohi said MOIC bus developed mechanical problems on their way top the venue, which prompted their late arrival.

"We gave them 30 minutes to make it to the venue, but they could not. KAA had to be awarded the match for the rest of the programme to continue without further delay," said Wanjohi.

As a result, the walk-over has lifted KAA to the fourth position with three points from four matches, having lost the first three to KCAA 75-50, PCK 64-45 and 87-48 to KPA.

MOIC are tied with Kenya Ports Authority on second position with six points each, but the former have completed all their four matches. The latter have a match against Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) this morning.

PCK, who are tipped to win the title, are leading the five-team table standings with nine points from three matches having won all their matches 72-43 against KCAA, 64-45 against KAA and 78-43 against MOIC.
