Kairu posts 39pts to win SA Series round

Nelly Kairu posted 39 points (19, 20) to beat 160 participants and win the South Africa Golf Series 12th qualifier at Railway Club.

Home golfer Faith Koki finished second on 38 points (20, 18), while Stanley Boit beat Joseph Murungi and David Mbatia on count-back to settle for third spot on 37 points.

Railway Club captain Peter Matemo posted 36 points to finish sixth, after beating Philip Wanjala and John Kariuki on count-back.

The top eight qualified for the national finals at Windsor Golf and Country Club on March 28.

Meanwhile, in Mombasa, Akki Khan won the Lady Captain’s (Diana Munyao) Trophy at the par 71 seaside Mombasa Golf Club on Saturday. Handicap 23 Khan, started the medal ford format for the first nines with a total of 45 net after placing three pars, three bogeys and three double bogeys.
