There are problems at Arsenal – Sh11 billion attacker Nicolas Pepe confesses

Nicolas Pepe lamented Arsenal's "concentration problems" after they fell to a 1-0 defeat at home by Manchester City.

The Gunners found themselves trailing just 76 seconds into the Premier League clash, as Raheem Sterling headed City in front.

Winger Riyad Mahrez was allowed far too much time to get his cross in by Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney, while centre-back Rob Holding will be hugely disappointed to have been beaten in the air by Sterling - who is seven inches smaller than him.

City may not have added to their lead but Sterling's early goal set them on course for a comfortable victory at the Emirates.

Pepe, 25, admitted Arsenal's poor start to the match cost them against the league leaders, telling French outlet RMC Sport : "We have concentration problems, we need to sort that out.

"We had chances in this match too. In this game, there was that goal and then nothing.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta echoed the Ivory Coast international's comments in his own post-match interview.

"It’s really frustrating because we talked about it, that we had to come out of the blocks really strongly, really convincingly," Arteta told Arsenal’s official website.

"We did the opposite and we allowed them sometime around the box, sometimes with Sterling in the middle of the box with a header.

"Against City, if you want to win you cannot do that.

"I think after that we tried to react in the best possible way. I think we matched them up, we had some really good moments, we created some great opportunities.

"But we lacked the quality around the box to find the right pass and the right man to score the goal. Against this opponent, everything has to be perfect."
