An unnamed Premier League club are reportedly testing their players for coronavirus after three members of the squad displayed symptoms associated with COVID-19.

The Telegraph reports that one player at the club showed symptoms of the virus earlier this week, after which he was placed in self-isolation.

After appearing to show signs of recovery he then relapsed, with two further members of the squad now also showing the symptoms.

COVID-19 continues to cause havoc around the world, with governments now upping their security protocols in a bid to contain the spread of the deadly pandemic.

Some 460 cases were confirmed in the UK by Thursday evening, although that figure is expected to rise.

Sport has also been hugely affected by the virus, with Spanish giants Real Madrid announcing that they had placed their entire first-team squad in quarantine for the next two weeks.

La Liga also announced on Thursday that it will pause for the next two weeks.

They said in a statement: "Given the circumstances known this morning, referring to the quarantine established in Real Madrid and the possible positives in players from other clubs, LaLiga considers that the circumstances are already in place to continue with the next phase of the protocol of action against COVID- 19.

"Consequently, in accordance with the measures established in Royal Decree 664/1997 of May 12, agrees to postpone, at least, the next two days.

"Said decision will be re-evaluated after the completion of the quarantines decreed in the affected clubs and other possible situations that may arise.

"La Liga, as organizer of the competition, has proceeded to communicate it to the RFEF, the CSD and the clubs."
