Three Chelsea stars could join AC Milan in January amid reports the two clubs opened transfer talks.

Cesc Fabregas, Gary Cahill and Andreas Christensen have all struggled for game time under Maurizio Sarri this season.

As as result, they have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.

Now, Milan station Radio Rossonera are reporting that the Serie A club's sporting director, Brazil legend Leonardo, has been in direct contact with Blues chiefs over the trio.

According to the station, Milan have made signing Fabregas on loan a priority in January.

The Spanish midfielder, 31, has made 135 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Barcelona in 2014. He began his career at Arsenal, for whom he played more than 200 games.

He made 49 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions last season, chipping in with three goals, but has made it on to the pitch just nine times under new boss Sarri.

The Italian has preferred N'Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley in the middle, limiting Fabregas to just 48 minutes of Premier League action.

He is out of contract in the summer.

Centre-halves Cahill, 32, and Christensen are also said to be on Milan's wishlist.

Both featured heavily under previous boss Antonio Conte last season, but have been kept out by Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz this campaign.

Cahill, who joined Chelsea from Bolton in 2012, has played 190 games for the club. His contract also expires at the end of this term.

Denmark international Christensen's situation is slightly different.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2017/18, playing 40 times in all competitions, but is yet to play in the Premier League under Sarri.

He only signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal in January and the ball-playing defender, whose style is suited to Serie A, would likely command a significant fee.
