Nakuru RFC returned to their winning ways when they beat Nondescripts RFC 37-14 in a pulsating Kenya Cup League match at Nakuru Athletic Club over the weekend.

Nakuru, who led 22-3 at the break, scored their first tries through Graham Kombo, Richmond Baraza, Larry Safari and Bernard Chirchir and a conversion by national sevens team player Gibson Weru.

Nondies scored through two penalties and a try. In the second half, the Oginga Odinga Road-based side left nothing to chance, bearing in mind they had lost their previous match 15-7 at the same venue against Mean Machine, and played like wounded lions against the white shirts to the last whistle.

Nakuru added more tries through Weru, Iche Ikongo and a conversion by Weru. Meanwhile, Nakuru RFC welcomed back Iche Ikongo and Simon Wariuki from injury. The duo has not played for their club for the last four months.

Ikongo had previously played for Kenya Commercial Bank before returning to his former club, while Wariuki last played for his team during the Christie Sevens Championships in November, where he picked a shoulder and a knee injury. Nakuru RFC coach, Pascal Wetukha, said the return of the duo has improved morale in the camp.
