The body of Assistant County Commissioner Julius Onyancha who died in India while undergoing treatment has been flown back to the country.

This is after the family of the late Onyancha with the support of Kenyans of goodwill, managed to raise funds to clear the hospital bill and transport costs amounting to Sh3.5 million.

Yungo Onyancha, brother to the late administrator, said the body was received in Kitale ahead of the burial scheduled for today.

"We successfully managed to bring back the body from India, and burial is expected today (Yesterday). We thank Kenyans who supported us," said Yungo.

There will be a public viewing of the body at Ndura stadium before burial rites at his home. Onyancha was working in Lukuyani sub-county, Kakamega, until his demise.

He was suffering from throat cancer and had been flown for treatment to a hospital in New Dehli, India before he lost the battle last week.

Onyancha was also the Bishop of Victory Pentecostal Church Kibomet.

Last Sunday, the family conducted a funds drive to offset the hospital bill and bring his body back home.
