Kenya calm and secure, security council says

The country is safe and secure, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua has assured.

In a statement Tuesday, the National Security Advisory Committee led by Kinyua said their assessment of the security situation in the country showed a relatively calm situation.

"On behalf of The National Security Advisory Committee, I am pleased to confirm that our nation remains peaceful and secure. We laud all Kenyans for a high sense of civic duty and for demonstrating tremendous patience as we waited for Presidential election results," Kinyua said at the steps of Harambee House, Nairobi.

Kinyua said the announcement of the presidential poll results yesterday now sets in motion for other constitutional processes such as the transition.

The government has appealed to Kenyans to resume normalcy.

"The Security Advisory Committee wishes to assure all Kenyans and all other persons' resident in our nation that the Government has and continues to take all necessary measures to ensure that the entirety of the Country is safe and secure," said Kinyua.
