Probe on for Nairobi deputy CID boss Michael Okumu who was found dead in his house

Nairobi, Kenya: Police have launched investigations into the death of Nairobi deputy CID boss Michael Okumu.

Mr Okumu was found dead in his house in Langata on Monday morning. Officials said he had been unwell but they are investigating the death.

He was with the house help in the house and had taken a cup of porridge before he was found dead.

County CID chief Nicholas Kamwende said Okumu, 58, had complained of chest pains soon after waking up and asked for a cup of porridge, which he took and slept before he was found dead hours later.

“He was a dedicated officer and we will miss his work,” said Kamwende.

Director of Criminal Investigations Francis Muhoro condoled his family saying Okumu was a hardworking and dedicated officer.

“He had been unwell but further tests will be conducted to confirm the cause of his death,” said Muhoro.
