The third day of the Barclays Kenya Open Golf Championship saw the top of the leader board dominated by the three South Africans, a Swiss, an Austrian and a Frenchman.

It was also a day that saw the Kenyans lose much of their momentum, with Greg Snow and Nicholas Rokoine dropping shots to close the day at level par and one under respectively.

At the top of the leader board for the Kenyans was Rokoine at minus one for the cumulative three day score and he was followed by Snow at a cumulative three day score at level par.

The other Kenyan professionals who made the cut, Peter Njagi and Richard Ainley recorded scores that brought their three day totals to +4 and +3, respectively.

The two Kenyan amateurs did not fare well either. They finished at +6 for Collins Omondi and +3 for Boniface Simwa. In the main tournament, those who made the cut teed off yesterday morning; all from the first tee as opposed to the first two days when both the first and the 10th tees were used.

The field has now been reduced to 71, making 24 teams; 23 groups of three players each and a lead team of two players.

The honours went to Jake Roos of South Africa and Swede Magnus Carlsson, who had both ended their second round at two day totals of 143.

South African Michiel Bothma, with his two-day total of 9 under, 133, was the last one to tee off at 12.10pm local time. Andre Bossert and Thomas Feyrsinger who ended up with a two day score of eight under par, 134, teed off ahead of Bothma. Bothma is drawing his momentum from playing golf throughout the summer and is looking forward to today’s draw which is likely to pool at least two South Africans together in the leader team.
