Western Jaguars will be hoping for a perfect start in the 2022 Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Men’s Premier League when they kick off their campaign with a match against Sailors

The Kakamega-based club play Sailors today at City Park before facing leaders Kenya Police tomorrow at the same grounds.

Kenya Police, Strathmore University and defending champions Butali Warriors top the men’s Premier League log with four points each after two rounds.

Speaking ahead of the double fixture in Nairobi, Jaguars head coach Mike Malungu said the team has been training well and they are looking forward to a positive start against Sailors.

“We have been training well since the beginning of the year.

“We have noticed how tough the league has begun with many teams playing well despite the long stop and we just have to measure to the high standards already shown by Strathmore, Police and Butali.

“It won’t be easy considering we are playing away from home but the players are ready. Winning against Sailors will definitely boost the team’s morale ahead of Police clash tomorrow,” said Malungu.

Meanwhile, the women’s Premier League match featuring Amira Sailors and United States International University of Africa women has been postponed to a later date.

The decision was arrived at because the university side is involved in Kenya University Sports Association games.

In the men’s Super League, Parkroad will face off against Wazalendo Master, Kenyatta University entertain Mvita XI as Kisumu Youngstars play Sikh Union.

All matches are at City Park.
