Ten people succumb to Covid-19 as infections rise by 1,035

10 patients have succumbed to the coronavirus disease, according to the latest statistics from the Health Ministry.

“One death occurred in the last 24 hours while the other nine are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in January.

Kenya’s Covid-19 death toll is now 5,482.

On Friday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said some 1,035 people tested positive for the disease, from 9,337 samples conducted in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate in the country is 11.1 per cent, with 316,700 confirmed cases and 3,136,817 tests conducted so far.

1,155 patients have also recovered from the disease, “1,042 were discharged from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while one hundred and thirteen are from various health facilities countrywide,” Kagwe said.

Total recoveries now stand at 280,199

A total of 1,119 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide. Forty-eight patients are in the ICU, and five admitted to the HDU.

Kenya has so far administered 10.9 million vaccines, while 17.3 per cent of the adult population is fully vaccinated.

The government says it is working towards vaccinating 27.2 million people.
