1,667 people have today tested positive for the coronavirus disease from 8,703 samples conducted in the last 24 hours.

The country’s positivity rate is now 19.2 per cent, with 310, 797 total confirmed cases and 3,094,153 tests conducted since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020.

Another 2,523 patients have also recovered from the disease, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

“2,395 were discharged from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while one hundred and twenty-eight are from various health facilities countrywide,” Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) said.

Total Covid-19 recoveries now stand at 264,656.

Twelve people have succumbed to the disease, “one death having occurred in the last 24 hours while the other eleven are late deaths reported in the last one week,” Kagwe said.

The Covid-19 death toll in the country is now 5,437.

Further, 1,210 patients are admiited in various health facilities across the country. Fifty-four patients are in the ICU and twenty-eight in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Kenya has administered over 10 million vaccines so far and 49,393 booster doses.

Only 16.4 per cent of the adult population is fully vaccinated.
