PSG defender and Brazilian captain Thiago Silva will leave the Paris club this summer, according to information from the newspaper L'Equipe, confirmed by RMC on Monday evening.

Thiago Silva, 35, who arrived in Paris in 2012, was coming to the end of the contract on June 30.

The sporting director of the club Leonardo would have informed him in person of the decision not to keep him within the club, indicate the two French media.

A disappointment for the Brazilian who would have liked to stay in the French capital, as his wife Isabele said in mid-May in the Parisian: "For us, it would be great to continue at PSG, we like the club (...) This is where the children grew up, it is in Paris that we would like to pursue our careers. "

But with losses estimated internally at more than 200 M EUR after the shutdown of Ligue 1 due to coronavirus, the necessary reduction of a payroll exceeding 300 M EUR is imposed on PSG. And Thiago Silva is one of the executives enjoying an XXL salary in Paris.

The central defender, who also wore the colors of AC Milan, could now return to Brazil and more specifically to his former club Fluminense, which he wore the jersey flocked with his name on a recent photo posted on social networks.

With PSG, Silva has seven French champion titles, four French Cups, five League Cups and seven Champions Trophies.
