Arsenal have held talks with Borussia Dortmund over the possibility of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer window. The Gabonese striker is being earmarked as a possible replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who appears set to sign for Manchester United.

The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to pay the £35million price tag Arsenal have slapped on Sanchez's head - a figure that turned Manchester City off the forward.

They are also willing to stump up the cash to meet Sanchez's huge wage demands, as well as pay agent and signing-on fees.

The money would go some way to helping Arsenal sign Aubameyang, who - despite now being a like-for-like replacement - would soften the blow of losing Sanchez.

The transfer is likely to drag on this month however, as Dortmund are keen to make around £60million for the Gabonese.

Arsenal want to pay much less than this figure being quoted, so you can expect twists and turns and for the player to drop hints over his future in the coming weeks - it's just the nature of the transfer window.

The Gabonese recently featured in a video, posted on Jadon Sancho's Instagram Story, in which Aubameyang appeared to do the above - drop a hint over his future.

Speaking to Sancho's followers, the Arsenal target said: "Can you bring me to London one day. I don't know, just for fun. Because you told me London is on fire!"

Sancho appeared to grin knowingly in the video, before giving his followers the OK sign with his hands, prompting his team-mate to laugh.
