Talk over Alvaro Morata's potential move to Manchester United has intensified after his wife followed the Red Devils on Instagram.

The Real Madrid striker has been linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford for month, with Alice Campello's social media activity sending United fans into a frenzy, reports the Manchester Evening News.

However, the Italian model soon unfollowed the Red Devils after sending the internet into meltdown.

Morata and his wife honeymooned in the Seychelles recently and appear to have headed onto Formentera, where Ander Herrera holidayed recently, ahead of the Spaniard's probable move to United.

It was reported earlier this month sources close to Morata expect him to join United. The Europa League winners were not the only club interested in signing the Madrid striker but Morata's relationship with Jose Mourinho is believed to have swung it in their favour.

United made an approach for Morata last month, but it was still 'early days' ahead of Madrid's bid to become the first side to retain the Champions League.

After Antoine Griezmann rejected United in favour of staying at Atletico Madrid, Mourinho has decided on Spain striker Morata, 24, to replace the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic as his figurehead.

Mourinho gave Morata his Madrid debut and the former Juventus forward spoke effusively about the Portuguese after he left the Bernabeu.

"Mourinho could have chosen some other player, but he chose me and I'll be grateful to him for the rest of my life," Morata said.

Morata has started just 44 league games in the last four years for Madrid and Juventus but could become United's second most expensive signing and only the second Real player to join the club after Angel di Maria.

Should Morata join United then he would become the seventh Spaniard to play for the club after Ricardo, Gerard Pique, David de Gea, Juan Mata, Herrera and Victor Valdes.
