Kenya Broadcasting Corporation veteran radio reporter Michael Wandera is dead. Wandera died in his house at Manyani Estate in Nakuru on Sunday night in what his eldest son, 27-year-old Jamin Wandera, described as acute pneumonia.

The fallen sports journalist, who prior to serving KBC as a Nakuru-based correspondent when it was known as Voice of Kenya (VOK)) from eighties up to his death, had previously worked for the Kenya Railways Corporation from 1990 to 2004 when he was retrenched.

The late Wandera, who was aged 60, had complained of malaria in his last assignment when Gor Mahia defeated league champions Tusker to lift the Super Cup match at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru over the weekend.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily in his house at Manyani Estate in Nakuru for burial arrangements. He leaves behind four children, three boys and a girl.
He will be buried in his rural home in Budalang’i, Busia County, at a date to be announced.
