Wayne Rooney challenged to a wrestling match by a WWE star

The Manchester United captain is a big WWE fan and we'd all like to see him swap the pitch for the ring for this

Wayne Rooney loves wrestling but now he's been given his biggest chance yet to prove it...fight WWE star Sheamus.

The Irishman is a big Liverpool fan which is probably one of the reasons he's decided to call out the Manchester United captain for a fight.

Rooney, of course, is a big WWE, boxing and MMA fan and has already had his first 'clash'; slapping wrestler Wade Barrett during the WWE Raw show at Manchester Arena in November.

But now Sheamus has called out Rooney while a guest on Soccer AM for the next Wrestlemania Revenge taking place on April 19th in Manchester.

DO IT WAYNE!

And if Rooney wants a fair fight maybe he can challenge Sheamus to a penalty shootout afterwards?

The thing is, it turns out the WWE star is actually fairly nifty when it comes to that too
