Muchemi recovers to win the overall title at Nyahururu Course

Home golfer Joseph Muchemi returned a solid score of 45 stableford points to clinch the overall title of Ess Equipment Golf Tournament played at Nyahururu Sports Club over the weekend.

Playing off handicap 19, Muchemi posted 22 stableford points on his front nine with an additional 23 stableford points from his back nine to triumph over a field of 85 golfers.

Muchemi’s good score at Africa’s highest altitude course was made up of a single birdie, nine pars and a similar number of bogeys.

Jesse Mugo playing off handicap 16 claimed the Men winner prize on a score of 41 stableford points.

Handicap 32, Irene Kamithi, donned the Ladies gong on a commendable score of 32 stableford points as Guest winner prize went to handicap 13 Javan Muriithi of Njoro Golf and Country Club.

Nyahururu Sports Club chairman Moses Koskei bagged First Nine prize with 22 stableford points while Second Nine prize went to Wachira Mukaburu playing off handicap 17 with 21 stableford points.

At VetLab Sports Club, scratch golfer Isaack Makokha fired a sterling round total of 41 (21+20) stableford points to clinch Valentines Shield title, which was presented by Oriental Global Immigration Services.

Handicap 4 Jackson Mwangi was Men winner on a score of 37 (18+17) plus 2-bonus points for playing with a wrapper (lesso).

Lady winner prize was won by Mercy Nyanchama playing off handicap 5 on a score of 32 (17+15) stableford points.

Chrispine Owuor playing off handicap 4, emerged the best Junior golfer with  34 (15+19) stableford points.

In the Seniors Winner category, Joe Kisolo won with 33 (14+17) stableford points as handicap 5, Simon Karo, won Guest prize on a score of 32 (15+17) stableford points.

On a combined score of 114 stableford points, Men Team prize went to the trio of Isaac Makokha 41 stableford points, Jackson Mwangi (37) and Calden Smith (36) while playing off Ladies’ tee boxes half their handicap.

In the Ladies category the prize went to the trio of Mercy Nyanchama 32 stableford points, former Lady Captain Rachel Ndei (27) and Sarah Hoare (26) for a combined total of 85 stableford points while playing off Men’s tee boxes full handicap.
