Muthaiga Golf Club plays host to the grand finale of Abeona Africa and Serena Hotels of Gateway to Wilderness Golf Series which tees up today.

A huge field of 210 golfers has been drawn up for the tournament that will be played under stableford format of play, off full handicap.

This will be the final leg of a nine series golf outing that set sail at Nairobi Royal Golf Club, Vet Labs Sports Club, Thika Sports Club, Ruiru Golf Club earlier in the year.

Others were; Thika Greens Golf Club, Kiambu Golf Club, Sigona Golf Club and Kenya Railways Golf Club before the grand finale at Muthaiga Golf Club tomorrow.

The series seeks to reinvent local tourism after ravaging effects meted on the local tourism circuit by Coronavirus.

Through promotion and sensitizing Kenyans and residents of the East African region at large on the need to travel more to the parks, beaches and spas across the country.

As the tourism and hospitality industry had been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Two nights for two awaits the eventual winner at Zanzibar Serena Hotel courtesy of Abeona Africa and Serena Hotels with a complimentary return ticket courtesy of Kenya Airways.

Off the deck on the first tee at 6.30 am will be the duo of J Okeyo and  P Murage; followed by Shritesh, B Dinesh, Sonal, D Sachin at 6.40 am. While on the 10th tee; the trio of  G Singh, K Singh, D Oduya and S Bhandari will hit the fairways at 7:00 am in a continuous draw.

Away in Limuru Country Club; will be playing host to the Limuru Country Club versus Coast Championship on Friday.

The visiting golfers from the coastal strip are from; Nyali Golf and Country Club, Mombasa Front Course, Leisure Lodge Golf Club, Malindi Golf and Country Club and Vipingo Ridge Golf Club.

With over 120 golfers set to battle it out on the par-72 course that recently launched it ultra-modern irrigation system.

According to Club Captain Fred Ikana, “We are glad to host the Coastarians courtesy of old  friends, Yassin Awale aka the Chief Pirate of the Limuru Warriors and Gurbux Singh aka Gearbox, the two have kindly donated the cup, Awale and Gearbox Cup, for the winner of the duel.”

The winner will be determined by a tally of the best cumulative scores of day, the best 20 men and 10 lady golfers stableford points from both sides.

Other individual prizes will be on offer. The event has kindly been sponsored by the Limuru Warriors and Warriorlets and have had the pleasure of teaming up with Standard Media group and Centsavvy Financial Services Group as sponsors.

The course is playing very well and already seeing dividends of the recently commissioned automated irrigation system.
