Kiengo walks to glory at Karen tournament

Handicap 23, Caroline Kiengo, in the winner of the Johnnie Walker golf tournament played at Karen Country Club, at the weekend.

Kiengo shot a round total of 43 stableford points, to triumph over a huge field of 211 golfers.

She had a birdie-less round but picked seven pars from the par-four first, par-five third, par-four sixth, par-four 10th.

Kiengo then delivered the remaining pars on the par-three 14th, par-four 17th and the last hole, a par-five.

She had bogeys on the par-five second, par three fifth, par-three seventh, par-four ninth, par-four 11th, par-four 12th, par-four 13th and the par-five 15th holes.

Her double-bogey was carded on the par-four eighth with two triple-bogeys on the par-four fourth and par-three 16th holes.

Handicap 20 Edward Mugo was Men winner on 41 stableford points, while 16 Jeremy Ngunze was runner-up on 40 stableford points.

Kiengo won herself an 18-year-old bottle of Johnnie Walker for achieving the feat, with Edward Mugo winning a bottle of Johnnie Walker Gold label. Ngunze took a bottle of Johnnie Walker Green label.

Limuru Golf and Country Club’s Tom Simba, playing off handicap 12, was the Best Guest player on a commendable score of 39 stableford points.

Vet Labs Sports Club’s Carl Wambisi emerged second on a score of 36 stableford points.

Karin Middleton and Vincent Rague picked up the front and back nine awards, while Douglas Duncanson took the staff prize with a score of 31 stableford points.

At Sigona Golf Club, handicap 26 Isaac Kariuki won the March Monthly Mug.
