Doctors say razor blades, toothbrushes and other personal items should be used by one person only. This is because sharing these items can lead to the spreading of diseases.
However, some children share razor blades at home or school. They wrongly believe the trimming of nails cannot transmit disease. Some pupils unwisely believe their friends are too young to be sick. But it is dangerous to use a razor blade that has been used by another person. For instance, if your friend is HIV positive and cuts himself with your razor, if you accidentally cut yourself with the same razor later, you could get infected with HIV.
It is good hygiene practice when you have your own personal items such us razor blades and toothbrushes. If your classmate asks to use them, kindly explain to the dangers of sharing them and advise them to buy their own.
