The conclusion of Bahati Super Cup Championships ended up with four players landing full sports scholarships at different American universities.
The quartet is central defender Francis Ekiru, defensive midfielder John Kimanzi, striker Joel Kamau and offensive striker Boniface Efati, all of Lanet Youth, the eventual winners of the two-month tournament. They are all students at Lanet Secondary School in Nakuru County.
Ekiru and Kimanzi are Form Four students while Efati is in Form Two as Kamau (Joel) scored a C+ in last year’s KCSE Exams.
“The quartet is a disciplined group who have lots of passion in football and are bound to go places in their careers. Their success is an inspiration to us as coaches and a morale to the team,” Lanet Youth head coach Linus Maloba told Standard Sports.
“We are determined to continue with the same spirit to ensure Bahati becomes another Manchester United Academy of Kenyan football,” he said.
They underwent trials conducted in Nairobi last month.
