Kisumu All-Stars seek to maintain unbeaten run as NSL gears momentum

Former Premier League side Kisumu All-Stars will be seeking to maintain their impressive start to the 2021 National Super League when they welcome Chemelil Sugar (Kisumu Hot Stars) at Moi Stadium on Wednesday as the league enters matchday six.

All-Stars who are yet to lose a match after five matches will be eying to get into the top four with a win against Chemelil.

Speaking to Standard Sports, All-Stars head coach Salim Babu said they are ready for the derby and expects to collect maximum point.

The former Western Stima coach who has led All-Stars to fifth in the standing with nine points after winning two and drawing three games said he is upbeat about collecting his third win of the season and get their promotion bid off to a good start.

“Chemelil (Hot Stars) are a very good side especially when they are playing in Kisumu. We expect a very tough and physical game but we will be ready.”

“We have the experience over them and I expect the players to show that today on the pitch by dominating and controlling the game,” he said.

Chemelil, coached by Charles Odero are currently joint ninth in the league with seven points, two points behind All-Stars and a win will take them above their rivals.

In Nairobi, log leaders Talanta FC will be aiming at extending their lead atop the NSL standings when they welcome Silibwet FC at Ruaraka Grounds as Fortune Sacco face Murang'a Seal at Kianyaga Grounds in Kerugoya.

In Migori, 14th placed Migori Youth welcome fourth-placed Kibera Black Stars as Mt. Kenya United face Soy United at Camp Toyoyo.

Other matches will see Vihiga Bullets host MCF, Mwatate United tackle Kenya Police, Modern Coast Rangers entertain Shabana and Coast Stima test Nairobi Stima in the Stima derby at Mbaraki Grounds in Mombasa.

All matches will kick off at 3 pm.
