Kakamega Homeboyz were dealt a blow after they lost three points in their push to win their maiden FKF Premier League title.

Homeboyz were deducted three points after Mathare United were relegated on Saturday.

The 2008 champions had missed three matches against Bandari, Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka and were officially relegated to the National Super League by the FKF Transition Committee.

On Sunday, Michael Karamor came off the bench to score the winner as Homeboyz ended their five-match winless streak in the league.

Karamor and Yema Mwana scored for Homeboyz while Henry Onyango grabbed the lone goal for KCB in a match that was crucial for the Kakamega based outfit.

Victory would have cemented Homeboyz’s lead at the top with 59 points, three more than their closest rivals Tusker, who lost two crucial points in their 0-0 stalemate with Nairobi City Stars.

However, Tusker and Homeboyz are tied at the top of the standing on 56 points, but the brewers top on goal difference.

The journey to the championship title is still tough for Benard Mwalala’s charges who must defeat record champions Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Kariobangi Sharks and FC Talanta for them to lift the title.

At the same time, Bandari revived their title hopes with a 4-1 win over relegation fighting Vihiga Bullets in Mombasa.

The win moved them three points off the grasps of Tusker and Homeboyz, with four rounds of matches left to play.

"All the remaining matches are like finals to us. We will try and get good results," said Bandari’s coach Anthony Kimani.
