Ex-internationals bring back fond memories in Mombasa tour

Two friendly matches between former Harambee Stars internationals brought back fond memories as the players exhibited their dribbling artistry during their weekend Mombasa tour.

The ex-internationals played against Likoni Legends and Mombasa Legends teams at Bomani ground and at the Mbaraki Sports Club.

The matches brought together football enthusiasts as their rekindled the good old times.

On Saturday, both ex-internationals and Likoni Legends settled for a 1-1 draw at normal time before the ex-internationals won 4-3 on penalties.

During the normal time, Twaha Mbarak, who played for Mombasa-based Wanderers, scored for the ex-internationals before Said Cheya replied for the Likoni Legends.

During the penalty shoot-outs, Julius Owino, Peter Gor and Mbarak (Twaha) scored, with Musa Otieno and Zadock Shaban shooting wide.

On Sunday at Mbaraki Sports Club, Mombasa Legends won 3-2, also through penalty shoot-outs, after a 1-1 draw.

Dennis Oliech scored for the ex-internationals while Abdulmalik Wafula, formerly with Coast Stars, starred for Mombasa Legends in the normal time.

“I had a great moment with the players and fans. It was a great honour to play in Mombasa,” said former Harambee Stars captain Musa Otieno.
