Kakamega Homeboyz came from a goal down to beat Gor Mahia 2-1 and in the process end K’Ogalo’s unbeaten run in the league.

Homeboyz achieved the feat during an FKF Premier League match at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County yesterday.

George Odiwuor and Stephen Opoku scored in each half to extend Homeboyz unbeaten run to nine matches as Peter Lwasa scored for Gor Mahia.

After the win Homeboyz moved joint top of the FKF Premier League standings with KCB on 21 points as Gor Mahia dropped to third on 18 points.

The match was marred by an incident of hooliganism that was meted on the centre referee as a fan attacked the official at the break in protest of a penalty that was awarded to the hosts for the leveller.

Both teams were unbeaten heading into the match after eight rounds of matches and they were also tied on 18 points with Gor ahead on goal difference.

In yesterday's match, the visitors made a dream start when new signing Lwasa scored in the third minute to give Gor an early lead.

The lead did not last long after Odiwuor drew Homeboyz level from the spot in the 20th minute after Yema Mwana was brought down in the box.

No more chances were created bu either side after that as the teams went to the break tied at 1-1.

Nine minutes after the restart, Homeboyz took the lead after Opoku beat Gad Mathews with a thunderous shot as the hosts led 2-1 after 54 minutes.

Homeboyz would hold on to win the match and maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.

In Nakuru, Ulinzi Stars saw off bottom placed Vihiga United 2-0 at ASK Showground to move three places up to seventh with 15 points.
