Harambee Stars moves two places up in FIFA men’s rankings

Harambee Stars have moved two places up to 102 in the latest FIFA men's ranking.

Since August, Harambee Stars have played in two matches; both 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Kenya drew with Uganda 0-0 when they hosted the rival neighbours on September 2 at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi before being held to a 1-1 draw by Rwanda in Kigali.

The Stars have only faltered once in their last seven encounters.

Kenya defeated Zambia 2-1 at Nyayo Stadium before seeing off Tanzania by the same margin at the same venue in their international friendlies in October.

The only defeat came at the hands of Comoros who won 2-1in Moroni before playing to a 1-1 draw against Egypt in Nairobi and upsetting Togo 2-1 in Lome.

Uganda Cranes is the highest-ranked in the Cecafa region at position 86 followed by Kenya. Rwanda is placed third in 128, Tanzania fourth in 132 while Ethiopia completes the top five in 134.

In Africa, Senegal (20), Tunisia (25), Algeria (30), Morocco (33) and Nigeria (34) form the top five ranking nations in CAF.

Elsewhere, England moved up to third in the latest to claim their joint-highest position since the rankings began in 1992 - the first time they have been in the top three since September 2012.

England were in 13th place when Gareth Southgate took charge in 2016.

The top two positions remain unchanged with Belgium retaining their position as the highest-ranked team in the world and Brazil placing second.

World champions France have slipped down from third to fourth after experiencing mixed results in their last 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
