The 2021 Football Kenya Federation Cup champions Gor Mahia received Sh2 million prize money for winning the FKF Cup on July 4

Gor Mahia Secretary-General Sam Ocholla on Wednesday received the prize money from FKF General Secretary CEO Barry Otieno.

Gor won the title after beating their fiercest rivals AFC Leopards 4-2 in post-match penalties to book a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup.

“The Federation is in the process of wiring the winning prize monies to runners-up AFC Leopards, third-placed Bidco United, and fourth-placed Equity's bank accounts,” said FKF.

The cash comes two days after FKF fined Gor  Mahia and AFC Leopards a total of Sh10 million for boycotting their league match last weekend on Saturday because of the unpaid FKF Cup money.

Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier and his AFC Leopards counterpart Dan Shikanda were also provisionally suspended.

The two clubs resumed playing during the midweek round 30 fixtures that saw Gor edge KK Homeboyz 1-0 as Leopards fall 2-1 to Nairobi City Stars.
