Crystal Palace are closing in on appointing former Arsenal and France great Patrick Vieira as their new head coach.

According to The Athletic reporter David Ornstein, Vieira’s official announcement is close after negotiations with the club in the last 24 hours.

It is reported an agreement has been reached in principle with Vieira, however, no deal has been signed yet.

This would be Vieira's first senior role in the United Kingdom, after serving at Manchester City in a youth development role. He took up his first managerial role at New York City FC in Major League Soccer (MLS).

In 2018, Vieira took over from Lucien Favre at French giants Lille.
