Edinson Cavani provides worrying update on his Man United future

Edinson Cavani has still not made up his mind whether or not to stay at Old Trafford for another season.

But it is looking increasingly unlikely the Uruguayan will not extend his time with Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like the vastly experienced striker to commit to another campaign but understands Cavani’s reluctance.

The United manager explained: “I have kept in touch with Edi and we keep an open dialogue. He’s still unsure what he wants to do next season, which is fine.

“It has not been an easy year - either for him or the rest of the world so he still wants time to make his mind up.”

But regardless of Cavani’s destiny for the 2021/22 season, Solskjaer is convinced United fans will see the best of him in the last two months of the season.

He said: “I’m very sure we will get the good version of Edinson for the rest of the season. He knows this is the business end of the season.

“We are fighting for the Europa League and we can see the end line in the league. There are only eight games left and you are thinking about where you are going to end up.

Cavani only signed a one-year contract with United when joining the club on a free transfer back in October.

Since then he has made 28 appearances for the club, but only half of those have been as a starter.

His father, Luis, told TyC Sports last month that the striker was "uncomfortable" in England and would look to secure a move to a team in South America.

Argentinian side Boca Juniors have been linked with his signature, where he would link-up with former Man Utd star Marcos Rojo.
