NSL: Talanta close the gap on Kenya Police to two points after midweek win

Talanta on Wednesday closed the gap between them and National Super League (NSL) leaders Kenya Police to two points after thrashing former KPL side Mount Kenya United 3-0 in the super league midweek match.

Kairo Francis and Ken Mutembei gave the visitors a comfortable 2-0 lead at the breather before Odhiambo Barack sealed all the three points late into the second half.

The win takes Talanta to 29 points, two points behind log leaders Kenya Police who were held to a 2-2 draw against Coast Stima in Mombasa.

Clinton Ochieng and Khamis scored for Stima as Kenya Police scored through Clinton Kinanga and Samuel Odongo.

In Karuturi, Vihiga Bullets edged out Nairobi Stima 2-0 to move into third place with 26 points same as Kibera Black Stars who saw off Modern Coast Rangers with a similar score line.

Mwatate United also went fifth in the log after edging out Fortune Sacco 1-0 as Kisumu All Stars dropped to sixth in the standings after losing 1-0 to APS Bomet.

Kisumu Hot Stars were the biggest losers of the midweek matches after going down 4-1 to a resilient Silibwet Fc who moved out of the relegation zone to 14 in the table after the crucial win.

Other results saw MCF beat Soy United 1-0, Muranga Seals thrash Migopri Youth 3-0 and Shabana hold Sony Sugar to a barren draw.
