Kenya national women volleyball team Malkia Strikers start their preparations for Tokyo Olympics on Monday next week.

Team coach Paul Bitok said they rescheduled the training camp to next week to enable clubs prepare for the national league that starts this weekend.

“We shall go into full training from January 25 at Kasarani as we seek to prepare for Africa Nations, 2022 World Championships qualifiers and the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games set for this year,” said Bitok.

He added that the team will conduct a closed-door training camp for 15 days before releasing the final training program.

"We have a lot to achieve this year where most of the events are supposed to be completed by May to allow teams focus on the Olympic Games,” said the coach.

The Summer Games are scheduled for July 23 and end on August 8, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan.

“We shall be indoors to adequately prepare for the events ahead of us. Our national team players will also be engaged in both local league and Africa Women’s volleyball club championships. Our basket is full of activities,” added the coach.

Bitok said he has already named his team and forwarded the names to Kenya Volleyball Federation. Ernest Ndunda
