Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nairobi East branch has partnered with Non-Governmental Organisation AMREF to develop the women’s game.
Announcing the partnership, newly elected branch chairman Amos Otieno ‘Wakili’ has urged all football stakeholders within the County to prepare their respective clubs for the upcoming season. Otieno hinted at the commencement of the competitive 2020-21 season in December saying the exact date will be communicated after further consultation with the national office.
“We hope our teams will be back to playgrounds by December. We are looking forward to announcing the kick-off date once we have a discussion with our main office and adhere to a set of directives that will be issued by the Ministry of Health to combat Covid-19 pandemic,” Otieno said during the announcement of the partnership between the Nairobi East branch with AMREF.
This partnership seeks to develop women football in the region but also mentor, nurture the young footballers, coaches and referees in the various leagues by providing them with several training clinics annually.
The first edition of the training exercise saw women coaches from Embakasi East and South constituencies trained and given certificates during the one-day event at the weekend.
