Paul Pogba’s error for Manchester United in his latest performance showed former manager Jose Mourinho was right about him in a pitchside argument two years ago.

The Frenchman has suffered a tough couple of weeks, forming part of the starting XI that suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Tottenham.

While the midfielder has re-fuelled speculation over his future after speaking about his desire to play for Real Madrid, leading to criticism.

The 27-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Juventus in 2016 for a Premier League record of £89m under Mourinho.

But it has not always been smooth for Pogba, with a rift emerging against the Portuguese boss before his exit in December 2018.

Footage from the loss to Mourinho’s current side, though, suggests the ex-United manager was right about the midfielder in his criticism.

The Frenchman was also part of a 2-0 loss to Spurs at Wembley Stadium in January 2018, with the 57-year-old in the hot seat.

And a moment was seen where the then-United boss laid into his midfielder for not covering his defence and tracking back.

Pogba was then taken off on 63 minutes for Juan Mata after Mourinho lost patience with his £89m man.

Coming up against Mourinho and his Spurs side at Old Trafford this month, the Frenchman’s criticisms from the Portuguese boss were exposed again.

In the second half, with the north London side already 4-1 up, the midfielder was seen on the left wing – but he did not pick up Serge Aurier’s run.

With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg picking him up the Ivorian’s run, Pogba finds himself too far away to put any pressure on the full-back for his goal.

And it sees him pull back from putting any pressure on the Spurs man as he drives into the back of the net.

It comes as Madrid have responded to the United midfielder’s comments about a “dream” transfer to Spain.

While the Frenchman faced off against team-mate Bruno Fernandes in the Nations League match against Portugal.
