The Kenya football fraternity is in mourning following the death of Former Harambee Starlets goalkeeper Rosemary ‘Maraa’ Aluoch.

Moraa, who has been Starlets’ goalkeeper trainer and kits Manager, passed away on Sunday while receiving treatment in a Nairobi hospital.

Following her death, friends and families have taken to social media to honor her  contribution to the growth of Harambee Starlets.

Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa wrote on Twitter: "A sad day for football today, we have lost former starlets goalkeeper and current Kit manager

"Rosemary Kadondi 'Mara' who passed on earlier today. I wish her family, friends and the starlets solace during this time of mourning

"May her soul rest in eternal peace."

In a tribute statement seen by Standard Sports, Former NEC Member Angeline Mwikali described the 44 year-old as a leader and manager of the female game at a time the country needed her the most.

"Maraa is a veteran Kenyan national women's football team goalkeeper with whom I worked very closely during my time as the Football Kenya Federation National Executive Committee Member in charge of women football between 2011 and 2016," said Mwikali.

"We grew so close in the course of our working relationship that one could mistake us for sisters because of how effective she was in executing her duties.

"She was one I could trust as a leader and inspiration to the Harambee Starlets girls. She could take charge, calm things down and raise whatever issues there were in the team with me in the most sober way.

"Maraa was one of the finest female football coaches and team manager of her generation and to date I still call her my team manager.

“Words alone may not express the depth of grief in my heart following her death but I do know for sure that the football fraternity has lost a legend, a leader and manager of the female game at a time the country needed her the most.

"May the Almighty God gift her immediate family, the Harambee Starlets family and the larger football fraternity and the Kenyan nation as a whole the strength to endure the pain of losing a great citizen and patriot.

“Fare thee well Maraa, till we meet again my lovely sister."
