Southgate was criticised when he left out Grealish in his first announcement on August 25.
Grealish was part of Southgate's under-21 2016 squad that was successful in Toulon.
The England boss also gave first call-ups to Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Conor Coady and Arsenal left-back, Ainsley-Maitland Niles.
Man United striker Marcus Rashford and Tottenham’s Harry Winks had to withdraw.
Gutted ???? never want to let this team down but these fixtures just came a little too soon for me. I tried my best but I have to focus on starting the season at my strongest for club and country. Good luck boys, I’ll be cheering you on from home ????♥? @England pic.twitter.com/2OMHKPFLpm — Marcus Rashford (@MarcusRashford) August 31, 2020

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire was initially named in the squad but had to be withdrawn following his incident in Mykonos, Greece.
Maguire was detained after allegedly being involved in a brawl in which police officers were reportedly assaulted.
He faced charges by a public prosecutor and received a suspended prison sentence of 21 months, 10 days. Maguire says he is innocent and has been allowed full retrial after appealing against the verdict.
England play Iceland in Reykjavik on Saturday, September 5 then travel to Copenhagen on Tuesday, September 8 to face Denmark.
