Tearful Gerard Pique has offered to quit Barcelona after their 8-2 loss to Bayern

Gerard Pique has sensationally offered to QUIT Barcelona following their embarrassing hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich.

The defender was on the receiving end of a masterclass in finishing as the German side smashed EIGHT goals past Barca in a one-sided affair in Lisbon.

Bayern had scored four in the opening 31 minutes as Pique and his colleagues in the Barca defence struggled to deal with them.

The heavy defeat sees Barca crash out of the Champions League in devastating fashion and left a tearful Pique considering his future.

"It's a horrible result. An embarrassment," he said after the match (as reports Forward Barca ). "This club needs changes, and I don't mean the manager, or any specific players. I don't want to single anyone out. It needs changes.

“We have hit rock bottom. If I have to leave for new blood to come, I will leave.

Pique was largely at fault for Bayern's fifth goal which ended any feint hope Barca had of mounting a comeback.

Two goals from Thomas Muller and one apiece from Ivan Perisic and Serge Gnabry had put Bayern in a commanding lead at the break, with Barca's only reply a comical own goal from David Alaba.

Luis Suarez then reduced the deficit to two goals with a well-taken solo effort to set up for a potentially barnstorming finish - but it wasn't to be.

Bayern hit back just six minutes later as Alphonso Davies raced down the left before cutting back for Joshua Kimmich to apply the simple finish from eight yards out.

Davies had side-stepped Pique on his route towards goal as the Spaniard hesitated and failed to even get close to the youngster.

To add insult to injury Barcelona's outcast loanee Philippe Coutinho then came on for Bayern for the final 10 minutes, setting up Robert Lewandowski for the sixth before adding two strikes of his own to compete the remarkable scoreline.
