‘Memelords’ showcase their talent after Chelsea defeat to Arsenal in FA Cup final

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace to help Arsenal secure a 2-1 win over 10-man Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday, August 1, clinching a record-extending  14th trophy in the competition. The win also meant the Gunners are now guaranteed a spot in next seasons UEFA Europa League.

This was Mikel Arteta his first trophy as Arsenal manager, after his departure from dethroned-champions Manchester City, where he served as Pep Guardiola assistant.

With the contest locked at 1-1, Gunners striker Aubameyang once again proved why he’s one of the most lethal strikers in Europe, dancing past the Chelsea defenders before calmly finishing with his left foot seven minutes past the hour mark.

Chelsea took the lead very early in the game after Christian Pulisic latched on to Olivier Giroud's flick inside the box, tucking the ball neatly past goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Aubameyang made it 1-1 moments after the water break from the penalty spot.

Frank Lampard waa forced to take off Azpilicueta and Pulisic after they picked up injuries, and were reduced to 10 after Mateo Kovacic collected a second booking for a foul on Granit Xhaka.

As Arsenal players celebrated with the trophy at an empty Wembley Stadium, fans, who were compelled to enjoy the action from the comfort of their homes could not hide then joy of winning the final, considering Arsenal’s dismal performances in the league this season.

Social media was set abuzz with all kinds and memes and jokes ridiculing Chelsea’s loss, at the same time, rubbing in Arsenal’s win in England’s oldest cup competition.
