Chelsea being linked with a shock move to sign Gunners striker Aubameyang from Arsenal

The Gunners, meanwhile, are hopeful the 31 year-old will sign a new contract at the club.

Gunners captain and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a move to Chelsea from Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.

Aubameyang's contract with Gunner runs out in the summer of 2021  but Arsenal have not made a fresh offer to the star striker who they want to stay at the Emirates beyond the end of his current contract.

And according to ESPN, Chelsea are monitoring his situation at Emirates and would be tempted to make an offer should Arsenal decide to sell this summer.

Aubameyang wants to play in the Champions League but Arsenal are 10th in the Premier League and face a stiff task to finish inside the top four and ensure automatic Champions League qualification – something Chelsea should be able to offer next season as they currently sit in the top four, three points ahead of Manchester United in fifth.

Aubameyangwho is valued at £50million joined Arsenal in January 2018 from Borussia Dortmund and has since recorded 61 in only 97 appearances across all competitions.
