Bandari Board of Trustee member Twaha Mbarak has commended the government’s firm stand to protect Kenyan constitution and asked Fifa to respect the ruling of the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) on the FKF leadership crisis.

“Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed has been bold enough together with the Tribunal members in protecting and ultimately standing by the laws of the country,” said Mbarak adding that every Kenyan has an obligation to respect, uphold and defend the constitution.

“Fifa erred by ignoring the fundamental issues raised by Kenyans through the tribunal and it was unfortunate that the world body through Veron Mosengo-Omba did not seek to gather more information before penning a letter that suggested that Fifa could take precedence over Kenya’s sovereignty,” said the former FKF Vice President.

“Fifa must respect the authority of Kenyan laws and the jurisdiction of legally-instituted bodies.”
