Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti was in the stands to watch Arsenal beat Manchester United .

Umtiti was among the sell-out crowd at the Emirates as goals from Nicolas Pepe and Sokratis secured the 2-0 victory.

It was also Mikel Arteta's first win as Arsenal manager, as the Gunners began the new decade with a winning touch.

Arsenal's attention will now turn to the transfer window, with a new centre-half on the radar.

They have been linked with Dayot Upamecano, but fans might get excited by the prospect of Umtiti after his appearance at the Emirates.

Umtiti was in an executive box watching on and shared his experience on social media, with a post on his Instagram story.

But unfortunately for Arsenal fans, he will not be joining the club this month - and merely attended the match as part of a winter holiday in London.

Umtiti had been in the capital to see in the New Year and took in the day's big Premier League football match during his visit.

Barcelona are currently on their winter break and do not return to La Liga action until Saturday, when they travel to Espanyol in the derby.

Umtiti is expected to play from the start of the match for Barcelona.

While Umtiti is not thinking of a move right now, last month he admitted to Spanish publication Sport that he is interested in a move back to his former club Lyon.

Speaking of his future plans, Umtiti said: "I'd like to be a coach. I take notes from those I've worked under, their training sessions and what they do.

"Returning to Lyon is a possibility, as a player or as a coach."
