Liverpool 'ready for a transfer battle with Borussia Dortmund' for Valencia's Ferran Torres
Liverpool has joined the race for Valencia young gun Ferran Torres.
The 19-year-old winger is one of the hottest prospects in La Liga after catching the eye with Valencia.
He has five assists and three goals in 63 appearances, resulting in plenty of interest in his services.
According to SportBild via SportWitness, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are also chasing Torres’ signature.
The Spaniard was integral to the country’s success at the European Under-19 Championship in July, scoring a brace in the final against Portugal.
He is one of 20 nominees for the Golden Boy award, handed to the best player in Europe under the age of 21.
Torres is under contract with Valencia until the summer of 2021 but could be made available for €20m (£17m) next summer.
Despite boasting the attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool continue to be linked with attacking reinforcements.
Jurgen Klopp’s main back-up includes Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi, and Rhian Brewster.
Liverpool focused on signing up-and-coming prospects during the summer transfer window.
Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg, 17, arrived through the doors from PEC Zwolle for an initial £1.3m fee.
He was joined by 16-year-old attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott, who became the Premier League’s youngest ever first-team player in May when he appeared for Fulham.
Elliott moved to Liverpool upon the expiration of his contract at Craven Cottage but the Whites are due compensation, which could reach £8m.
