Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the brink of banishing Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United's reserves in a bid to force the Chilean out of Old Trafford.

Solskjaer sees no long-term future for the Red Devils flop, who has endured a miserable time in Manchester since his big-money move from Arsenal in 2018.

However United are finding it tough to offload the 30-year-old due to his incredible salary, which sees the footballer earn £500,000-a-week.

And The Sun has reported that Solskjaer will force Sanchez to train with the U23s, having decided that his future is best served away from Old Trafford.

It is claimed that the Norwegian boss has been unimpressed with the striker ever since he replaced Jose Mourinho at the helm.

Roma are keen on signing him on loan this summer but his hefty salary is proving a stumbling block and United may have to share the burden.

That is something the Red Devils may be willing to do, given that they'll have to fork out £8.6million on wages until the January transfer window if he stays put.

This latest development comes after reports emerged claiming that the out-of-favour striker was involved in a training ground spat with youngster Mason Greenwood during pre-season.

According to The Sun , the Chilean reacted angrily to a tackle from the rising star in one of his first sessions back from a hamstring injury.

Sanchez suffered the knock in the Copa America and was eased back into action but is said to have exchanged words with the teenager after the incident.

The forward also spent time working away from Solskjaer's first team squad in pre-season and was not ready for their season opener against Chelsea.
